Case studies are a good part of the backbone of policy analysis and research. This chapter illustrates case study methodology with a specific example drawn from the author’s current research on Internet governance. Real-world problems are embedded in complex systems, in specific institutions, and are viewed differently by different policy by: CBPR case studies in the United States that appeared to have had an impact on health-promoting public policy or that showed promise for doing so in the near future. Just 27 of the nearly 80 cases reviewed met criteria for CBPR (e.g., being participatory and empowering; fostering co-learning, capacity-building, and systems change; and balancing.
